It’s time for Jerusalem Grand Slam

World Athletics (WA) and the European Athletics Association have officially approved the Jerusalem Grand Slam 2024. The competition will take place on May 19th at the National Athletics Stadium in Givat Ram. This prestigious SILVER-level competition will be held in Israel for the first time, and it is expected to feature elite athletes from abroad. This will be the third international competition to take place in Jerusalem, following the successful hosting of the European U18 Championships in July 2022 and the European U20 Championships in August 2023 by the Israel Athletics Association and the City of Jerusalem.

Ami Baran, President of the Israel Athletics Association, stated: “I am grateful to the global and European athletics associations for once again trusting the Israel Athletics Association to host a prestigious competition at the highest standards. I also thank the City of Jerusalem, which has become our steadfast partner, for hosting another athletics competition. We will continue to work to host additional international competitions and showcase the achievements of Israeli athletics and the beauty of the State of Israel to the world.”

Moshe Leon, Mayor of Jerusalem, commented: “We are excited and proud to host the Jerusalem Grand Slam 2024, turning it into an annual tradition at the National Athletics Stadium in Givat Ram. In recent years, we have become the sports capital of the country, hosting national and international competitions in various sports, with athletics at the forefront. We have built new facilities, renovated existing ones, and most importantly, nurtured the sports spirit, both professional and popular. We wish all the participants great success.”

Jack Cohen, Director of the International Department at the Israel Athletics Association, added: “I am very pleased that the international associations have approved the competition. Our goal is to create a legacy, and we hope that this high-quality competition will be held regularly every year. I am grateful to the City of Jerusalem and the Israel Athletics Association for their support in making this project happen.”
